Hair salon recycling for everyone

Salon Recycling For all. The planet belongs to everyone. the tools to save it should too.

We believe that doing the right thing should be accessible to everyone. Recycling waste materials reduces the need for extracting, refining and processing raw materials, all of which create substantial air and water pollution. The hair & beauty industry is not exempt!

Enter Recycle My Salon, a non-profit initiative brought to you by The HBSA.

Now, you too can do something about the planet, for only £40/collection.

Today, we are recycling aluminium products and human hair from salons and freelancers. In the future, we plan to add further waste streams.

Simply add a 50p or £1.00 ‘eco fee’ to each service to offset the cost of recycling your waste aluminium.

What happens to your aluminium recycling?

When you throw an empty colour tube, an empty aerosol or your used foils into your recycling box it embarks upon a magical journey of transformation.

The recycling process for aluminium is a very simple one, you consume and recycle, we remelt and reproduce that same metal into another valuable aluminium product - from aeroplanes to window frames or even rockets bound for Mars, here’s what happens . . .

What happens to your hair recycling?

At Recycle My Salon, your discarded hair strands get a green makeover. Instead of adding to landfill waste, we compost them, enriching soils with their natural nitrogen, so every cut you do contributes to a healthier planet.

While there's a budding cottage industry around hair recycling, with innovative minds even transforming hair into unique items like dog leads in East London, we've chosen a more sustainable approach. Our focus is simple: composting.

Why Composting? Hair, as it turns out, is a wonderful organic material. Rich in nitrogen, it's a boon for soil when composted. By composting hair, we not only prevent it from ending up in landfill but also give it a second life, enriching the earth and promoting healthier plant growth. Here’s what happens . . .

If we don't act now, it'll be too late.

Manufacturers & salons alike need to take responsibility for the human hair waste produced and aluminium products placed on the market, and the waste they produce.

Stop sending recyclables to landfill and start recycling!
